The direct answer
Choose regular oral NMN if you want the format supported by the larger body of human trials and a lower current price at the same labeled 500 mg serving. Choose a liposomal product only if the delivery format itself matters to you and you accept that its direct comparative evidence is one very small four-week publication.
Do not treat a general liposome claim as proof for every liposomal NMN bottle. The formulation, particle characteristics, manufacturing process, dose, and finished-product quality can differ. A product-specific potency result verifies the amount in the tested serving; it does not measure absorption.
What the human data actually show
The direct liposomal evidence is narrow. The regular oral evidence is broader, but still does not prove longevity.
| Evidence | Design | Finding | Editorial reading |
|---|---|---|---|
| Liposomal vs regularKawakami et al., 2025 | 15 men aged 40+, five per group; placebo, regular NMN, or liposomal NMN; 350 mg/day for four weeks. | The paper reports higher week-four blood NAD+ for liposomal versus regular NMN, P = 0.001. | Exploratory signal, not definitive superiority. The paper is not PubMed-indexed and the product was supplied by a manufacturer. |
| Regular oral NMNMultiple randomized trials | Different populations received 250–2,000 mg/day for 14 days to 24 weeks. | Blood NAD-related measures commonly increased; clinical outcomes were inconsistent. | Stronger format-level evidence base, but not proof that every capsule works equally. |
| Oral vs sublingualWakabayashi et al., 2026 | 14 healthy men in a randomized two-period crossover study. | Some terminal metabolites were higher after sublingual dosing, with no significant difference in blood NMN, nicotinamide, or NAD+. | A route study cannot be transferred to liposomal capsules. |
Why the 15-person result is not a final answer
The liposomal study divided 15 participants into three groups, leaving five people in each. Small groups are more vulnerable to baseline imbalance and unstable estimates. The intervention lasted four weeks and measured blood NAD+, not symptoms or clinical outcomes. The tested liposomal product was SINTO liposomal NMN, so the result cannot automatically validate another company's capsule.
The publication is still relevant because it directly compares formats in humans. Its correct weight is “one early product-linked signal,” not “liposomal NMN is proven to absorb better.” A larger independent replication with clear formulation characterization, pharmacokinetic sampling, and patient-important outcomes would change that assessment.
Two current 500 mg products compared
| Product | Format and serving | Finished-product result | One-time price |
|---|---|---|---|
| ProHealth Longevity NMN Pro 500Regular capsule | 500 mg in one capsule; 30 servings. | Lot 2509142: 513.21 mg/capsule by HPLC. | $42.95; $1.43/labeled serving. |
| Renue By Science LIPO NMNPowdered liposomal capsule | 500 mg in two capsules; 45 servings. | Lot 062827351: 507.776 mg/two-capsule serving by HPLC. | $64.95; $1.44/labeled serving. |
The per-serving prices are almost the same because Renue provides 45 servings and ProHealth provides 30. The bottle price and capsule count differ. Both public reports support potency for the tested lot. Neither report compares absorption, blood NAD+, or clinical effects.
Prices exclude coupons, subscriptions, tax, and shipping. For the complete product fields, use the NMN product specs database.

Who each format fits
- Best-supported default
- Regular oral NMN. Most human NMN trials use conventional oral dosing, and current products can provide matching finished-lot potency reports.
- Format-first buyer
- Liposomal NMN. The format is a reasonable preference when the buyer understands that direct comparative support is still preliminary.
- One-capsule preference
- The compared ProHealth serving provides 500 mg in one capsule; the Renue serving uses two.
- Longer bottle duration
- The compared Renue bottle lists 45 daily servings, versus 30 for ProHealth.
After format, compare the exact bottle on four fields: labeled dose, capsule count, current price, and a public report that matches the product and finished lot. Our serving-size guide shows why equal front-label numbers can require different capsule counts.
Claims neither format has established
- No proven longevity advantage: neither format has been shown to extend human lifespan.
- No universal absorption multiplier: results for other liposomal ingredients do not establish a percentage for liposomal NMN.
- No product-class equivalence: one tested liposomal formula cannot stand in for every liposomal brand.
- No COA-to-clinical shortcut: measured capsule potency is not evidence of blood exposure or benefit.
- No route substitution: sublingual findings are not liposomal-capsule findings.
